I swear, the most ridiculous coincidences happen to me..
I’m working at the Ridges doing inventory by myself (like always) and I keep staring at this HUGE painting hanging above my desk.  (it was just put there this week)   This painting is ginormous and for some reason I felt as if i had seen it already, as if it was in a dream of mine or something?  That sounds silly… but instead of continuing with my work (which was too difficult because I couldnt stop thinking about the painting) I sat and stared at it for a really long time until - BOOM! it came to me.

6 years ago, I was going to an Alkaline Trio concert.  The two boys I was going with insisted that we stop by this dude’s apartment and have some drinks with them before we headed downtown.  We drove to Lakewood and walked into this old apartment building that had crown molding in the hallway and vintage wallpaper peeling off the walls  (i was in heaven).  We then walked into this guy’s apartment.  The dude was a lot older then my 15 year old self, and I guess my two guyfriends knew him through family friends or something, i duno.  ANYWAYS.  Him and his girlfriend were the nicest people and ended up driving me to and from House of Blues that night. BUT, when I first got to their place, I sat down on this amazing olive green plush couch, a black kitten hopped into my lap and i was handed a glass of red wine all while I was admiring this painting above their bed.  I told him I was interested in art and asked if i could take a closer look at the painting… he then told me that it was his work and that he was a painter.

So, here i am working in ATHENS ohio, at the RIDGES, and THE SAME original painting that i admired 6 years ago, is being stored right above my head in my workspace.

Also, when I was in San Francisco a couple years ago, I was standing by myself on Sutter Street at a bus stop when a dude walked up to me and sat down on the same bench.  He had a portfolio bag and a bandana rapped around his head.  It was the same dude from before the Alkaline trio show (the artist of this painting).  We talked and he told me that he was getting his MFA at the Academy of Art University right around the corner.

My life…… i’ll tell ya…
